“I choke your intertubes”
A Song for Stephen
He’s not *stupid*. He’s corrupt and venal. There’s a deliberate calculation in this, and it’s that it’s worth losing the votes of libertarians (who wouldn’t vote for them anyway) if it shores up support in the “bible belt”.
The ALP lost my primary vote at the next election on the weekend when I read this (scroll down) –
“Australia’s first gay and lesbian newspaper, the Sydney Star Observer, celebrated its 1000th issue this week with an interesting line-up of political figures offering their respective good wishes in print. After 30 years the paper has earned its stripes as the gay and lesbian community’s key media forum, and while the likes of the politicos Malcolm Turnbull (in his capacity as MP for Wentworth), Peter Garrett, Barry O’Farrell and Clover Moore were only too keen to offer their support by writing letters of congratulation to be published in the paper, the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, was a noticeable no-show. Had he missed the deadline perhaps? No, not quite. The paper told PS that Rudd’s office had been contacted ”well in advance” of the paper’s deadlines but nothing materialised.”
I cannot abide this type of emotional immaturity and sexual infantilism anymore re gay men and women, and I’m not even gay. I’d expect it of Howard, but Rudd is of similar age to me and he should grow the fuck up and come to grips with reality.
But Conroy’s twaddle about protecting families by beginning censorship of the internet set my decision in stone. And if he, or anyone else for that matter, were to say to my face that my objections to his decision meant I support child p0rn0graphy, I would rip him a face like Silvio Berlusconi’s. Fuck him and the ALP.
Even though preferences would probably go to them, I’m straight up for The Greens next time. Or the Australian Sex Party. They’d be a hoot to see in parliament.
Ah, crap – I just realised Clive Hamilton is pro-filter and a Green.
Why do these pollies always have to go after the bible belt vote?
Isn’t my happy camp vote not good enough??
Ross, I find that when I’m upset about things, watching a good horror movie (or two) is a good remedy.
I can recommend Last House on The Left and Eden Lake.
Better watch them now before they get banned.
I didn’t like “Last House”, Reb, though I enjoyed “Eden Lake”. I watched a film called “Deadgirl” last night – hated it. Avoid.
The Europeans and the Brits are doing some really good horror these days.
Bugger. “Deadgirl” looked like it had quite a good cover in the DVD store. I’ll give it a miss then.
I can heartily recommend any of these vids Reb, if you haven’t seen them.
“Stuck” is a zinger.
Oh yes, I’ve seen stuck, that’s the guy stuck in the windscreen eh? Bloody weird.
I also quite liked “Let the right one in”, oh and I watched Pan’s Labrynth for the second time too on DVD the other day.
Have you seen Blindness yet? It’s a good one…
Just watched the delightfully entitled “Drag Me To Hell” on DVD by Sam Raimi.
It was good. Very good……
Oh and Final Destination 4, which was average. Very average….(but then it did have some good death scenes of people that needed to die.)
