On Labor’s part, a colossal five-week fuck-up of epic proportions …
Morris Iemma is right.
You’re just agreeing with Iemma cos youse used to smoke fags together behind the bike sheds. Iemma would have enjoyed the benefits of his own “Bitar” and he’s a little up himself saying Bitar sucks but Jules is okay; she wasn’t smart enough to repudiate the “Bitar” approach.
Anyway, it looks as though we’ve been spared the unthinkable; Abbott’s unlikely to be PM and if he is it won’t last or afford him the opportunity to do any damage. But Labor has become a hollow ideological wasteland. As ugly as the Rudd ousting was, I was looking forward to a renewed enthusiasm within Labor, a return to all the commie stuff, but no, the new regime was even less “Labor” than Rudd. I’m not sure Labor’s pandering to the bogan rednecks is forgivable. Labor will now have to dance a merry dance with the Greens. This could be a very good thing.
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced this is the best possible outcome. Hooray.
For the record, I voted Greens in the Senate and Labor in Reps. My decision to vote Labor in Reps was last moment – I decided in the booth.
In my electorate (inner suburban Brisbane), there was a huge vote for the Greens in Reps – 13,872 compared to 18,220 for the ALP candidate. LNP won it with 33018.
I went Green and Green, but only because I forgot to vote Sex Party in the Senate.
Stupid Labor cunts. If they’d been brave enough to loudly advocate their “traditional” values they wouldn’t have lost so many votes to the Greens and could have (with some justification) portrayed themselves as a credible mob instead of legitimising Abbott by simply campaigning on the slogan of “we’re not as arseholic as them”. I reckon they’d have pissed it in. As evidence; witness the post election consensus that the “stop the boats” shit didn’t even register as an issue with voters. Not even within the stupid-bogan-rednecks-of-Penrith demographic.
Way to surrender your integrity and credibility, Labor.
The NSW state election will be very … “interesting”. To say the least.
I agree with everything everyone has said. One big fat fiasco from start to finish – Rudd, Bitar, policy vacuums, bitching, Julia – they all stuffed up big time.
Also, you might be right cNm, about the hung parliament serving us better. However, depending on how it pans out, if those country party people hold the balance of power, we could be in for some really outrageous policy distortions. Although the NBN is an awfully big carrot. And the regions do love a carrot.
Last time I looked at the scoreboard we were back at 73 all. What a laugh. We really stuck it to ’em, didn’t we.
And I see that fat fuck, Clive Palmer, is still sticking his oar in. Ross, you live nearby. Could you feed him a stick of dynamite? Thanks buddy.
Yeah, but don’t forget those country party yokels are *disaffected* tories. I heard Tony Windsor reciting what turns him on and although I don’t remember most of it (apart from the commie dental medicare notion) none of it was terribly objectionable. Maybe with the Greens Senate balance, a Labor gummit would be forced, kicking and screaming, against its will to fulfil its charter.
I don’t know if it’s possible, but my wet dream is for another election in a mere couple of months. Oh the delight of watching those shitheads scramble to campaign on principles and policy as that’s the only thing that would work for them now. C’arn Jules, C’arn Tone, look under the couch there might be some down there.
Fucking Clive fucking Palmer, I’d like to gut the fat cunt with a fucking paring knife.
Forthwith, to be known as FCFP.
Just seen Julia on the telly. She looks exhausted with big black rings under her eyes. Poor dear.
She looked like the leader of the alien mother ship on Saturday night. This is what happens when you’re forced-fed the bitter but necessary humility medicine.
She’s certainly sucking the big kumara right now, as they say back in New Zild.
Hey Ross, I don’t know anything about Queensland state politics. What’s the gist of the problem with QLD Labor?
I haven’t got the foggiest … Bligh seems no more or less competent than any other state halfwit. I have no idea what or who the opposition are … I’m afraid Qld state politics holds no interest for me … it’s all about policies on sheep dip and utes up here. And bananas.
Reckon this spells the end of the two-party system, for a while at least. And no matter what happens, this kick up the cloaca should have both Liberal and Labor working their pink bits off to try and impress us. Can’t see a landslide victory going either way for a very long time.
Love ’em or hate ’em, the independents come across as practical and likely to actually get some shit done instead of whichever CEO is at the helm who simply commissions a bunch of expensive reports – Henry, Garnaut – only to stick ’em in the bottom drawer and tick that box as done. Maybe Katter et al will keep the bastards a little less dishonest. Or more accountable.
Ah, who the fuck knows anything.
Aside from Katter, who’s completely daft, the other independants and the Green seem like reasonable people … If they don’t recall an election (now, that result would be interesting), at least one good thing from this is that Steve Fielding’s been neutered in the Senate. Good fucking riddance.
