“CLIOCIDE” – the “silencing” or symbolic killing of collective historical-political or historical-disciplinary identities and identifying practices by historical or discipline deficient “scientific” coding practices. The suppression, destruction, rewriting or denial of history.
(From Greek mythology, Clio was the Greek muse whose task was to watch over the course of human history.)
Thanks, cNm.
It’s a beaut that word, innit?
I think it was coined by Konrad Kujau on Twitter circa 1977.
It is a beaut word cNm…
And reflects what the maoris were able to accomplish in New Zealand by destroying the original indigenous people their – the mori ories.
Wiped from history’s record books, one would easily think that today, the maori’s are NZ’s original indigenous race, but it isn’t so.
Bloody cliocidal maniacs those Maoris. But the real truth is fighting back. A Google search for “mori ories” returns a massive 52 results (53 when Google catches up with this page). The most revealing page hints at the Celtic heritage of the mori ories which explains their fondness for rugby.
